Our Story

The main purpose of sharing this story of my family is to share how this travel agency 🏢 has developed over the span of a century 💯 by three generations 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 of a Tibetan family 🏔️ in Lhasa📍. Here i have share the adventure stories 🗺️ by father 👨 and grandfather that have help me become tour guide🚶‍♂️and later running this agency 💼 to welcome visitors from abroad 🌍 to show and experience a real Tibet 🙏

My Grand Father 👴

My beloved grand father 💖 start leading mule 🐴 caravan in year 1940s 🕰️ for a Lhasa based🇳🇵Nepali trader call Shamokarpo(The shop is still in business in barkhor market🛍️). He is the first person in our family linage 🌳 to explore and travel extensively to Yunnan 🇨🇳, kalimpong (India)🇮🇳, Nepal🇳🇵and Bhutan 🇧🇹.

During my childhood 👶, he would tell us stories 🗣️ recalling his journeys 🚶‍♂️ and exploration of different regions of the Himalayas 🏔️, under a tree 🌳 in our courtyard 🏡, sipping yak butter tea ☕ and biscuit 🍪. As his grandchild 👧, we were very much fascinated 😍 with his stories about the iron bird (airplane ✈️) and the iron snake (train 🚂).

My Father 👨

Later in the 60s 🕰️, my father 🚶‍♂️ used to travel to different regions of China 🇨🇳, including different areas in Tibet 🏔️ , Xinjiang 🏞️, and other Tibetan inhabited areas of the plateau 🏔️ as a business person 💼 for his co-operative society 🤝. His tales were like Wild Wild West stories 🤠 with nomadic experiences ⛺ and full of adventure 🚀. He would tell us about the ancient routes 🛤️ he traveled on the Silk Route and how he met different cultures 🎎 and traditions 🙏 on this route.

In the late 1980s 🕰️, my grandfather 👴 started helping to train new tour guides 🧑‍🏫 and travel agencies 🏢 in the English language 🗣️ and understanding the culture of the world 🌍,when Tibet 🏔️ was opening up to international travelers ✈️ for the first time in history📜. Which later leads to the founding of our family’s first travel agency called Tibet World International Travel Service in 1997🗓️.

My Story

Under the influence of my father 👨 and my grandfather 👴, I started working in tourism ✈️ as soon as I completed Master’s in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work ⚕️ from abroad 🌍.

I have started as a tour guide 🚶‍♀️ leading tours to every region of Tibet 🏔️, then a permit boy 🛂 for our family agency 🏢, and later owning my own agency 💼. It’s been two decades ⏳ of my personal experience in working in tourism ✈️ and welcoming international travelers 🌍 in visiting Tibet 🏔️ for an authentic Tibetan experience 🙏 like no other.
